Weekly Recap, 3/17 - 3/23

Monday, 3/17:  Rest Day

We received the new jump ropes my bf bought us and this was the warning that came with them.... This is gonna hurt!

Tuesday, 3/18:  CrossFit

This workout was NOT fun!
3 rounds for time, 30 min cap:
- 3min of pushups
- 100 air squats
- 1 mile run
- Rest 2 min between rounds

I got half a mile into the 2nd mile.  The air squats started taking me FOREVER!

Then I came home and started to cook up a storm! Bacon wrapped chipotle chicken thighs, Irish soda bread (a day late, I know), and ground beef and string beans in tomato sauce.  All of it was so good! Recipes coming soon.  



All three were winners!


Wednesday, 3/19:  Rest Day

Honestly?  I don't remember what I did AT ALL.  Didn't go to the gym.  Just work and then headed home.  :(

Thursday, 3/20: CrossFit

Today was Macaron Day in NYC!  It happens once a year and a few bakeries offer free samples of macarons and some of their proceeds other than that go to a charity.  Last year we trekked around NYC on a macaron pilgrimage but this year I only went to one little bakery that was right around the corner from work.  And their macarons were fabulous!

And then this fabulous workout, 25 min cap:
- 5 rope climbs
- 15 GHD
- 25 broad Jumps
- 4 Rope Climbs
- 20 GHD
- 50 Broad Jumps
- 3 rope climbs
- 30 GHD
- 75 Broad Jumps
- 2 Rope Climbs
- 40 GHD
 -100 Broad Jumps

Pretty sure I only got about 50 broad jumps into the set of 75. Ouch.  After the workout I watched some of the coaches and members attempt CrossFit Open 14.4.  This one looks MISERABLE!

Friday, 3/21: CrossFit Open 14.4

I didn't go to work today due to a doctors appointment so I headed to the gym late morning for my first attempt at 14.4.

14 minute AMRAP:
60-calorie row
50 toes-to-bars
40 wall-ball shots, 20 / 14 lb.
30 cleans, 135 / 95 lb.
20 muscle-ups

OMG HORRIBLE!  Toes to bar are the death of me.  I can't get more than one at a time so it literally took me 8 full minutes to get through all 50.  And I wripped my palm open.  Fun, seriously.  I got through the row in about 4:30, which I was happy about.  In the end, I only was able to squeeze in 23 wallballs.  Now I know what I'll be working on for awhile...toes to bar :(

To make up for the misery, we splurged and went to Shake Shack for lunch.  LOVE that there's now one right by my house in Jersey.  No need to deal with the chaos and tourists at the NYC locations. :)  Also stopped by Goodwill and dropped off about 5 garbage bags of goodies.  Already have 2 more bags sitting in my car to go again this upcoming weekend.  Spring cleaning to the max!

So good.

For dinner we headed out with some of my MBA friends to a mediterranean hookah restaurant.  Always fun to catch up with the crazies.  :)

Saturday, 3/22: Rest Day

I knew I wanted to do the Open workout again on Sunday so I took a rest day.  Met up with the bf for breakfast after he finished and then just relaxed and cleaned the apartment for a bit.

Had a ladies night for dinner at a gastropub and the food was AMAZING!  If you guys are ever near Montclair in Jersey, you need to go to Pig & Prince.  Everything we had was amazing.  Seriously.

Sunday, 3/23:  CrossFit Open 14.4

Well?  Attempted to try this again.  *sigh*  And it was horrific.  I actually ended up getting 10 reps LESS than Friday.  What a waste of a torturous 14 mins!  haha!

  2. I can't believe you actually attempted 14.4 TWICE! I hated every second of that thing and don't even get me started on the condition of my hands when I was done with those toes to bar! But good for you for doing it, even if you did get fewer reps the 2nd time.

    Oh and mmmmm bacon...
