New Disney World Half Marathon Medal Revealed!

Update 8/10:  runDisney just posted on their FB an actual photo of the medal and not just a mockup.  What do you guys think?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
runDisney finally revealed the medal for the WDW Half Marathon during Marathon Weekend!
I can honestly say I love it!  It's very similar to the 15th anniversary medal from last year but this time all one color and incorporates 2013 into it.
Medal that was revealed in the video
Hopefully tomorrow we'll also get to see the full marathon medal!  Cross your fingers!!
What do you guys think?  Love it?  Hate it?  Indifferent?
  1. Eh...I'm not thrilled by it but it's ok. I think I like the Donald design better last year because it was in color and incorporated the "12" from 2012 into the half sign.
    Regardless of the medal design, I'm 90% sure I'm going to be signing up for the half again (I'm just trying to figure out where I'll be living in January). I've been stalking the Run Disney website for weeks making sure it's not almost sold out.
    I'm interested in seeing the marathon medal too. Even though I won't be running the marathon, I'm sure it's going to be an awesome medal.
  2. I think it's beautiful!
    Katy is right, though. 2012's was amazing and it's not every day you get to use the 12 to make "1/2," and the color was awesome.
    But I like the simplicity of this medal.
    For me, the medal is great but it's the run, meeting people along the way and the freezing-my-butt-off waiting to start that makes the race so wonderful.
  3. It's alright I guess... seems a bit lazy to me, basically using the same design and just changing the year. But, I'm already signed up for the Goofy, so I'll be getting it anyway.
  4. It doesn't look like we're going to get to see Mickey today. :( Maybe we'll get to see it this weekend?
  5. I actually like it better than last year. I like that it's round. For some reason, I found last year's medal to be creepy and this one isn't. I don't know why... I really thought that they would mimic the Mickey medal from the last 2 years with the Donald, but I like this one.
    Can't wait to see the Mickey... Especially since 2013 will be my first Goofy!
  6. I like it ok, and will be excited to get it in January. However, I did like last year's better. Last year was my favorite Donald and will be hard to beat in my opinion...
  8. I am having the BEST time reading your Disney running blog! I just started running with a very seasoned marathon veteran LAST WEEK (my neighbor). I can't even run an entire 4 miles yet without stopping, but I KNOW I want to run the Disney half someday. I would like to do it in 2014. Our family LOVES DisneyWorld and has been there 3 times for vacation. I mentioned to my hubby I might like to do the Disney half, and I don't think he's opposed to going then. We have been tossing around the idea of going to Disney in 2014 anyway for vacation... we may just have to bump up the date from the spring of 2014 to January so I can hit the Half! GREAT blog and info!
  9. @Katy...there's a discount on registration up until tomorrow if you're still on the fence!
    @JLaFunk... definitely agree! The medals are cool but the best part is the community and friends!
    @Mike...how do you like the full medal?
    @Jaime...I've heard the 'creepy' description a few times! :) Good luck on your first Goofy! :) I'll be right there with ya!
    @Stacelet... Last years was definitely cool! I liked it more in person so maybe this one will grow on everyone?
    @Emily...I know how you feel! Tink and Princess are hard for my schedule!
    @Kris... again, thank you so much for the kind words! Slow and steady is how my training grew in miles. Don't get discouraged and go at your own pace. And hopefully you guys can make it down in 2014 for the race! That would be amazing!
